The Wine:
The terroir of the Clos de l'Arlot blanc is rugged and rocky. The hillsides are so steep that all work on the vines, often performed with the help of machinery, is done by hand here. Such painstaking work is necessary and worthwile for this vineyard of unique quality and character. Ageing lasts 12 months in oak barrels, with 20% new barrels, and 3 months in vats before bottling.
The nose is precise and direct with notes of ripe citrus, apricot and pineapple, typical of our estate. The enveloping beginning of the mouth is very silky, with an exquisite balance between minerality, unctuosity, fruit and flowers, ending on a long and subtle finish. Lots of elegance and persistence for this wine which can be enjoyed young or in a few years.
The Review:
Stuart Pigott, JamesSuckling.com - 95pts
"Delicate aromas of lemon blossom and apricots with just a hint of flint that expands with aeration, that turns more and more in a creamy direction. An extremely elegant white Burgundy with great focus and stony minerality at the long finish. The concentration is there, but doesn’t make a big noise. Excellent integration of discrete oak and fruit. From two parcels in the mid-slope of this site. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold."
